Physical Appearance
Bella is pale skinned girl, which is ironic considering that she spent most of her childhood in sunny Phoenix. She doesn't even have the excuse of blonde hair or blue eyes to make up for it! Instead, she has long brown hair, and chocolate brown eyes. Being a warm colour, the brown adds to her features, giving her a "soft" appearance, which she claims is the reason that her slender physique does not mark her as an athlete. She stands about 5'4" in height, and weighs about 110 pounds. One distinguishing feature that Bella is oddly proud of is a small crescent-shaped scar on her right hand that is always slightly cooler than the rest of her skin, and glitters in the sunlight.

Personality
Bella is an intensely passionate girl, with a flair for the dramatics. She has a tendency to focus on the worst outcome of any scenario. While she does have an innate "trouble-magnet" quality that leaves her justified in doing so, it often causes her a great deal of stress and worry. Over the years, she has developed a way of masking that fear and worry and keeping it out of her face. She does this because her pain begins to affect others, and then she feels guilty as well. She doesn't like to have others worried about her. She is very insecure about herself, and doesn't think she's worth their trouble. She would much rather sacrifice her own happiness by masking her grief than have someone else worry about her. This mask is usually very successful in keeping her emotions out of her face, though on occasion, her temper will flare up when someone does something that she does not like. Often the anger is a bit over-the-top, and irrational, so it is quite easy to get her to calm down when she realizes how silly she's being. Of course, while she may be calmed down, she will usually still be somewhat bitter about the incident, and often needs some time to recover from it before getting the anger completely out of her system.

Background
(Warning! The below information may contain spoilers to the first three books (Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse) in the Twilight Saga. Read at your own risk!)

Bella was born in Forks, Washington to Charlie and Renee Swan. When Bella was 6 months old, her parents divorced, and her mother moved her to Phoenix, Arizona, where Bella learned to love the warm weather and sun.

When she was 17, her mother remarried a minor league baseball player who travelled a lot. Renee hated being away from Phil, and so Bella made the decision to go live permanently with her father in Forks, in spite of the fact that she detested it so much. This left her mother free to travel with her new husband. Though Renee insisted that this was not necessary, Bella had made up her mind, and made all the necessary preparations for the move – including enrolling in the local high school.

On her first day of this new life, Bella noticed a strange family full of the most exotically beautiful people that she had ever seen. Upon asking some new friends who they were, she discovered they were called the Cullen family, and she became fascinated by them – particularly one boy, Edward. Bella could not help but long to be close to him, to understand him further. Eventually, her persistence paid off, and Edward let down a few of his walls and explained to her that he was dangerous – he was a vampire. It was only because of his incredible self control, and decision to drink the blood of animals rather than humans that Bella was still alive at all, because Edward found the smell of her blood particularly intoxicating. Rather than being (reasonably) repelled by this knowledge, Bella fell even more in love with Edward, and he was unable to resist her advances. Despite his better judgment, he and Bella embarked on a romantic relationship, which proved to be (understandably) complicated. Bella, who was already quite the trouble-magnet, was now thrown headfirst into a supernatural world that she knew little about, and not all the creatures there were as friendly as Edward.

Though Edward did his best to keep her safe, there were several close calls that he was not comfortable with, and he eventually decided that he must break up with her for her own safety. He did this by telling her that he didn’t love her anymore. Being as attached to Edward as she was, and already believing that she didn't deserve him, Bella believed unquestionably that Edward had stopped loving her, and sank into a deep depression.

Unable to live without her soul mate, Bella simply went through the motions of living, trying to hide her pain from the people around her, and instead separating herself from them. She could find no happiness in living, until she began to develop an intense friendship with a local boy, Jacob Black. Though she was careful to make her intensions clear – she wanted only his friendship – Jacob could not help but fall madly in love with Bella, though he was happy to remain her friend for a time. But things were not as they seemed. Jacob soon discovered that, much to his fear and embarrassment, the old legends about his tribe descending from wolves were true. Many of the boys in the town, himself included, began to transform into werewolves. At this point, Bella had come to rely far too heavily on Jacob's friendship to allow this to spoil it, and accepted him for it, even though she knew that the werewolves were the sworn enemies of the vampires.

When Bella has a terrible accident one day, a miscommunication leads Edward to believe that she died. Showing his true colours and confessing that he cannot live in a world without Bella, Edward goes off on a suicide mission; he is planning on angering a group of vampires known as the Volturi, a sect known for their unforgiving nature. Bella follows Edward to stop him. When the Volturi find out about Bella, they tell Edward that she cannot continue to exist as a human knowing all of the secrets she knows about them – she must be turned into a vampire. Bella is perfectly all right with this decision, but Edward does not want her to lose her humanity. After much persuasion from both Bella and his family, Edward agrees on the condition that Bella marries him first. Having spent the last 17 years of her life listening to her mother tell her that getting married too young was the biggest mistake of her life, Bella is torn – she loves Edward, but she hates the idea of being married. Eventually - and against her better judgment - she agrees. This decision causes obvious strain on her friendship with the werewolf Jacob Black, who believes that Bella would be much better off with him instead. Bella is torn between the two boys – she cannot bear to think of her life without either one of them. Eventually, Jacob reaches the end of his rope and gives Bella an ultimatum: either she kisses him, thus exploring all her options before signing her life away, or he will turn around and walk out of her life forever. Unable to cope with that idea, Bella kisses him and discovers, to her shock and horror, that she had been wrong about her feelings for him. Apparently, he was right: she does love him.

Unfortunately, this realization doesn’t change her feelings for Edward. Her love for him is stronger than her love for Jacob. When she tells Jacob this, he is heartbroken - but accepts her decision. Jacob leaves Forks to clear his head, and Bella and Edward set about planning their wedding.

malahsa. Bella met several inhabitants there, few of them local, and established some solid relationships, as well as had a few crazy adventuers. However, before Bella could even get a grip on the reality of

malahsa, she suddenly found herself transported (again), though this time to

dauphinmare
